Myth #1: Expensive materials will add home value.
Adding materials that only a few people will appreciate can make it harder to sell down the road. Always consider the net value of your home before opting for the more expensive materials. Adding an appliance that costs as much an automobile may not add value to your home because of that fact. At the end of the day, it’s your home and your project, select items you want and/or like just don’t deceive yourself that your adding value, because you might not!
Myth #2: Trendy is always best.
Trends change!!! It is best to design to your personality; if that proves to be difficult for you then get an expert’s advice on the best way to design to your space and options that suit you. Myth #3: I can do it myself!
You might not have the knowledge needed to design a whole project yourself, design and completing are two totally different things. That difference could end up costing you big bucks. As a licensed, insured and bonded remodeler we’re familiar with local building codes and have both the skills and tools needed to complete almost any project. A weekend warrior may spend a whole year completing a renovation that could take us two weeks. In any event, don’t be afraid to ask for help!
Myth #4: Inside renovations are better than outside ones.
The outside of your house makes the first impression to a potential buyer; if they don’t like the outside, chances are they won’t bother to see the inside or if they do, not give the house a fair shake! Make sure your outside gives off the impression you are going for.
